Cardinal Portraits was founded in 2012 by two Stanford seniors who noticed a gap in the market: graduation photography that was either too expensive, too impersonal, or handled by outside agencies unfamiliar with campus. They wanted something different — a service run by Stanford students, for Stanford students.
What started as a small operation shooting a handful of friends grew rapidly through word of mouth. By 2015, Cardinal Portraits had photographed over 100 graduating seniors. By 2018, we had become the most-recommended graduation photography service among Stanford undergraduates, known for our natural style, deep knowledge of every photogenic corner of campus, and genuine care for each graduate's story.
Today, Cardinal Portraits is trusted by 500+ graduates annually across all schools — the undergraduate college, the GSB, the law school, and more. Our team is entirely made up of current and former Stanford students who understand exactly what this milestone means. We don't just take pictures. We document the moment you've worked your whole life toward.
